Gary West is the Owner and Managing Director of Sydney Pub Tours, a historic tour in Sydney that takes locals and travelers alike to famous and old pubs in the area.
We were lucky enough to tag along and have a chat with Gary about his experience implementing Rezdy.
What were the points of frustration you faced before you started to use Rezdy?
Well, probably my biggest frustration is knowing nothing about the internet and booking systems and SEOs and all that sort of stuff. I know how to run a tour, but I know nothing about website implementation, so the biggest frustration for me was getting my head around all the jargon and knowing all the basics about website stuff. I grew up in an era where we didn’t have computers at school.
What were the implications for your business if you hadn’t managed to fix that problem – how serious was it?
Basically, I wouldn’t have a business. In a technological age, everything’s internet, and everything’s website, and everything’s plastic money. Nobody uses cash anymore, so when you’re running a tourism business, if you can’t have some sort of system where people can book and pay online, you might as well not open.
So you settled on Rezdy in particular – why was that?
First of all, I was put onto Rezdy by a friend and colleague of mine. He also operates a tourism business and I was explaining my frustrations, and he mentioned Rezdy and he was very happy with them. So I gave them a quick call, and had a first meeting in Bondi and liked what they had to say, and the rest is history.
Once you bought Rezdy, how did you get the product implemented? What were the next steps?
As I mentioned, I know nothing about web design or implementation. So I basically had to engage my web designer and through communications with the Rezdy techno team, they managed to implement it onto my site very, very easily.
What are the top three features you like about Rezdy?
What would you say to other businesses in your sector thinking of trying Rezdy?
Do it. Their rates are very, very reasonable. The staff are very, very friendly and helpful. The ongoing support was great – quite often, I’ve had issues that I didn’t quite know what was happening, or I didn’t know how to resolve, and I requested help and got a reply and a solution within 24 hours, which is quite rare these days. Very slick, and I’ve had zero complaints from my customers with regards to the online booking process which I think probably speaks for itself.
What’s the single biggest reason that you would recommend Rezdy?
The single biggest reason? Probably if you don’t know anything about web design or backend stuff, it’s very, very easy. It’s essentially dumbed down for people like me, who don’t really know much about the web world – I think it’s called the internet, I think that’s what they call it these days – so it’s very, very easy if you’re a novice to that whole world. It’s very, very simple to navigate through.
